AFG volunteers have teamed up to plant more than 150 native sedges and shrubs on the Swan River in Attadale (Perth), as part of a broader community project aimed at improving the condition of foreshore vegetation and reducing erosion.
This year — in May — the team from AFG’s head office in Perth donned their boots and gloves, digging holes and planting the sedges. The efforts will contribute to the restoration and fortification of flora in the region, in turn helping bolster the habitats of various bird species and wildlife.
The plantings by AFG helped support a bigger project by the City of Melville, in collaboration with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and the Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group (SERAG), as they work to plant some 20,000 native shrubs, sedges and trees along the foreshore during 2024.
Volunteers were needed to help provide manpower for this massive task.
AFG’s third annual tree planting day was held as part of the company’s commitment to making a positive contribution to our planet and community.
