AFG employees in head office have been lending a hand to those less fortunate by regularly volunteering at a major Perth crisis centre.
AFG has partnered with Uniting WA, which runs the Tranby Engagement Hub in Northbridge. Tranby provides meals and other means of support including showers, counselling and referral services, for people facing homelessness in and around the City of Perth.
Tranby, committed to being a safe and supportive environment where people are welcomed exactly as they are, often supports around 300 people daily and relies heavily upon volunteers.
Through the partnership, teams of up to 12 AFG employees take over the kitchen for a morning, supporting those in need by preparing, cooking and serving meals.
In addition to employee participation, AFG’s sales team has invited brokers to participate in the volunteering mornings, with take up and feedback being excellent.
On each occasion AFG makes a financial contribution which Uniting WA puts toward food costs.
For Christmas 2023 AFG held a Christmas giving campaign, collecting more than a large ute-load of non-perishable food items which Uniting WA used to create hampers for those sleeping rough.
